The Mock Auction night at the Bruce Hotel on Friday 27th February was a roaring success, raising £2,000 to provide a summer's day out for our members.

Colin (second left) said “The success of the night was way beyond our expectations. We’d like to thank everyone who bid on the night. Linda Johnson and Lesley Burns did a sterling job of gathering items for the auction. Due to the scale of the success, we can now look to widen our ideas for our summer trip.”

The night began with Linda (wearing Celtic Top) and Ross (first left) saying a few thank yous and talking about autism and Asperger’s syndrome. The night was then handed over to compare, Raymond Burke. (right) from the KYBO Theatre Company.

Many superb items were donated to the auction. Rosbey’s bedding sold for £39. A Debenham’s teddy sold ror £8. Three watches donated by Figaro Jeweller’s of Hamilton sold for a total of £107. Sunday lunch at the Crutherland Hotel was auctioned for £45. A leather handbag donated by Crichton’s of Hamilton raised £21. A mountain bike was sold for £35, while a skateboard raised £12. A Photo Faire voucher worth £125 was sold for £45. The two big sales of the bight however, raised £135 each. Click Flooring of Wilson Place, East Kilbride donated £200 of hardwood flooring and a last minute donation of a SIGNED Celtic football top raised £135.

A few donations were made before the event. The committee would like to thank Roy Wilson for a kind donation of £100. We would also like to thank Jim McCann, the manager and his staff of the Bruce Hotel for helping to make the night very relaxing and also for their donation of £100.

We'd like to thank everyone for coming along and bidding on our auction items. From the feedback we have received, it would seem everyone had a great night:

I thought the night went well; it started pretty promptly; the intros, thanks and bit about ASD were long enough to get the point accross without labouring it; it was good to change the auction in the second half for variety. Raymond Burke was very witty. A few folks complained that he didn't see them bidding, but he said it was quite difficult to scan the whole room.

The disco didn't seem to be well utilised, however, I felt it was good to have the disco otherwise once the auction ended it would have been a bit of an anti-climax, and it allowed those who wanted to continue partying to do so.

I enjoyed my fizzy wine and mixed nuts! It was good also that so much of the stuff auctioned was new or good quality. I've been to a few where you're trying to get 50p for 6 tea stained pottery mugs, and it can be a bit boring.

Congratulations, I am absolutely delighted for you all. It was a great night and lots of fun. There is no taking away that it was hard work but I am sure that you all consider it to be worth while.

Well done!.

My family and I had a brilliant night on Friday. The prizes were fantastic, and the auctioneer did a great job. It certainly was a different type of charity night out and what a tremendous amount of money you all raised.

I recognise the amount of hard work which must have gone in to make the evening go so well. You deserve a big pat on the back for your stamina and enthusiasm.

Thanks again for a great time, and for raising all that cash.

Thanks all for you kind words!
